Drop-in Sessions
🍵 We organise regular chai & chats for parent/carers to network and to raise awareness around a range of SEND topics.🍵 SEND Salaam is dedicated to breaking down barriers ethnic minority groups and disadvantaged communities face when accessing health and education services.

Why I set up SEND Salaam
As a parent/carer to a 5 year old SEND child, I've been through the diagnosis journey and understand the importance of early intervention. There are around 16,000 SEND children & young people in Bradford but not enough support out there for parents going through the pathway to a autism/ADHD diagnosis. When my son was diagnosed with autism in January 2024, I witnessed a lack of inclusive events for SEND families in my local area. This inspired me to start this project to raise awareness around mental health and reduce the stigma around hidden disabilities, especially within ethnic minority groups. Our goal is to work with organisations & community centres to create inclusive and safe spaces for young people with disabilities.

1.5 million students in the UK have special educational needs.
Faith inspired- As a Muslim, I believe Islam teaches us to care and support those with disabilities.
Community spaces should meet the diverse needs of all community members and support their full inclusion.
